Lohmeyer Plumbing is proud to have been recognized with the Indiana Governor’s Half Century Business Award, honoring our long history of doing business and serving our community in Indiana.
The Governor’s Century and Half Century Business Awards recognize Indiana companies that have remained in continuous operation for at least 50 or 100 years and have demonstrated a history of community service.
For Lohmeyer Plumbing, the recognition comes during an especially meaningful year: 2026 marks our 90th year in business.
Serving Columbus Since 1936
Lohmeyer Plumbing has been serving Columbus and the surrounding communities since 1936.
A lot has changed in the plumbing industry, and in Columbus, over the past nine decades. The tools, technology and products we use today are quite different than those the plumbers who started working under the Lohmeyer name used 90 years ago.
But some things haven’t changed.
Doing quality work. Treating customers well. Taking care of our employees. Supporting the community that supports us. And building a business that people can count on year after year.
Reaching 90 years isn’t the accomplishment of any one person or generation. It represents decades of hard work by the many people who have been part of Lohmeyer Plumbing and the continued support of customers who have trusted us in their homes and businesses.
Celebrating Indiana’s Longstanding Businesses
One of the best parts of receiving the award was seeing the other Indiana businesses being recognized alongside us.
The Half Century Business Award recognizes qualifying businesses that have operated for 50–99 years, while the Century Business Award recognizes those that have reached 100 years or more.
Seeing businesses that have surpassed the century mark was especially inspiring.
Staying in business for decades requires adapting to changing industries, economies, technology and customer expectations while continuing to provide something your community values. Reaching 90 years has given us an even greater appreciation for the businesses that have successfully done that for more than a century.
And maybe in another 10 years, we’ll get to join them.
